27 Ideas For a Quiet Life in 2023

Are you having muffled hearing or even loss of hearing? Have you ever thought your life was too loud? When I worked at the hospital, I would assist surgeons in surgically repairing different aspects of hearing and implanting hearing aids for geriatric patients. Patients would always tell me the reasoning for their hearing loss was loud music and the environment, working construction, or simply old age.

I wanted to help them beyond the surgery, but I didn’t know how. I thought to myself, “If I can’t help these patients, at least I can try to prevent this from happening”. I wanted to help delay hearing loss and, more importantly, search beyond to create a peaceful environment for the future of humanity to live in (you can learn more about me here). This is why my blog is all about ways to achieve that peaceful life we all want.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of living a quiet life?

A quieter life typically means fewer stressors. There’s less hustle and bustle, which can lead to reduced anxiety and a calmer state of mind. Embracing a quiet life means you have the freedom to choose what truly matters to you. You can focus on your passions and values, rather than conforming to societal expectations.

How to make a keyboard quieter?

For mechanical keyboards, you can switch out your key switches (the letters, numbers, and symbols buttons) for a quieter switch. An easy, yet not completely effective method is to put your keyboard on top of a mouse pad or desk mat. The rubber and soft material on the mats can help dampen the noise of the keyboard when the keys are pressed.

What are the benefits of a digital detox?

When you step away from your device and lean into reality a little more, you start to appreciate and enjoy the little things in life. Social media and apps have taken over the world, and we’ve let it go without a second thought. The main benefits of a digital detox (to name a few) are less stress, improved relationships due to improved social interactions, better sleep and focus, and more time to do the things you enjoy.

What is the main cause of hearing loss?

The most common cause of acquired hearing loss is noise, which accounts for over one quarter of people affected by hearing loss. You can protect your hearing by reducing your exposure to loud noise or wearing appropriate protection such as ear muffs or ear plugs.

How to tell if hearing loss is permanent?

If your hearing loss happened suddenly and did not get worse over time, it’s more likely temporary. There are many causes of temporary hearing loss and some problems may get worse over time if they aren’t treated properly. Some common causes of temporary hearing loss include: ear infections, earwax build-up, foreign object stuck in the ear canal, exposure to loud noise, fluid trapped in the middle ear, and sudden change in altitude

How do you clean hearing aids?

Daily cleaning should include removing any wax or debris buildup. You should also wipe down the entire device using a microfiber or other soft cloth. Use an approved disinfectant spray if applicable. I recommend storing your hearing aids in a dehumidifier at night to help extend the life of the device.
